Lacewood:-
which is actually London Plane, sawn on the quarter to display
the very pronounced silver grain pattern. |

Spalted
Beech:- Spalted means wood that has been invaded by fungi,
which produces striking colour patterns of browns and black.
After the wood has been dried the fungi become inactive. |

Wild
Cherry:- This is a beautifully marked wood and one of my
favourites. I usually include some lighter sapwood in the designs
as a contrast. |

Walnut:-
Another stunning wood with lots of character. |

Spalted
Silver Birch:- this can be a very beautifully marked wood. |

Yew:-
actually classed as a soft wood!! But is a probably as hard
as Oak. This a another favourite wood of mine. There is a striking
contrast between the creamy white almost ivory looking sapwood
and the golden brown heartwood. |
